Default Question: EU and online gambling?

Just woundering, is EU positive or negative on online gambling? I mean, do they want it to be legal or not?

Also if they want it to be legal, what effect will that have on e.g. Norway which isnt in EU yet but is mostly controlled by EU laws via EUS, ect.

The reason I ask is because the government in Norway is trying to ban online gambling like America did. And if they ban it, all my hard work (my website) will be worthless :sarcasm:

Do you think Norway will ban it, or wont EU allow a gambling ban?

Do they wanna restrict online poker to Norsk Tipping only or do they wanna ban online poker in all forms?

I doubt that the EU commission will allow Norway to ban online poker other than on NT. Sweden are interested in doing the same thing with "Svenska Spel" but the EU law does not allow them. It's against the free trade law if I'm not wrong.

I don't think you have to worry!

Yes thats right, I remember it was a conflict similar in Italy some months ago... I doubt that Norway will give up on Norsk Tipping...

But what about America & Turkey? Dont they have to follow these rules?

None of them are members of the European Union so the laws don't apply there.. Unfortunately.
