No, not Party. Planet Poker was the first poker room to ever offer real money games, I believe.

Thanks!

Do they still operate? Their site looks kind of old.

I believe PlanetPoker went donkdown late last year. Was the original premier online poker site -- lots of action and lots of pros roamed there for a long time.

I'm not sure but I think the longest standing poker room is now Paradise Poker, since Planet Poker went out.

Does anybody know why they closed down? The room must be easy to promote if you are the oldest room out there..

Probably had outdated software and lack of advertising led to low traffic and revenue. Had you ever heard of planetpoker before this thread?

Yes, I have heard about them before.. But I have not promoted them or seen any PP ads in Sweden so I'm not that familiar with them.

Paradise software was much better and Paradise was doing a better job of advertising and bringing in new players so most of the old players migrated over there in 2000/2001 (and Party didn't come on the scene until end of 2001 and I think PokerStars started around the same time). PlanetPoker had been a ghost town since then until they finally pulled plug last year.
