How does someone sell a website domain (just the address not the company). Also how does someone buy a site to sell. I have paid for several sites from godaddy and yahoo, if I wanted to sell the site name could I?

Thanks for any help.

Is the question how do I physically sell a domain? If so, you do a domain transfer.

I am not looking for a place to sell, more like how would you transfer a domain to someone that paid you for it. Example, I went to godaddy.com and paid them to get www.nike.com. After a few years Nike wanted to start a website using my domain. Nike told me they would give me $50 for that domain, how would I give it to them. Also if I was Nike how would I get it.

The easiest way would be if Nike opened an account at godaddy also, then you just "push" it to them using the website feature. Let Nike work it out how to get it from their godaddy account to their preferred registrar. that's their problem and at their cost.

I agree with what Sooty said. Also, if you are making a large sale it would be wise to use an escrow service. I recommend escrow.com because their fees are the most reasonable when compared to the other major escrow sites.

You should probably get more for Nike.com than $50 too.

Truth be told, since IBM and Nike are both trademarks, we're probably lucky to have gotten what we did get. :P
