How to vary your content to get more traffic
June 05 2014
Having quality content on your website is by far the biggest thing you can do to get more sign-ups. But today we are not going to talk about how to write better. Today, we suggest including more graphic and audio content to your site. That is hugely beneficial from both: SEO perspective and in terms of getting your message across to convert. Just pick what’s best for your website.
Why do you need to vary content?
As you probably know from personal experience, when you visit a new site, you don’t read everything word for word. We may even go as far to say that people online rarely read. They skim the website for something to grab their attention. That’s why structuring your texts with headlines, sub-headlines, separating paragraphs is so important.
However, there’s one more thing you can improve. As people look at content differently, having photos, graphs, videos helps draw attention, keep visitors on your site for longer, get more subscribers, shares and eventually to get your message across.
What content can you add?
Let’s look at different types of content including images, videos and audio content.
• Images
Easiest to put on and most common on a website are images. You can add photos, slides, graphs, memes, etc. The variety is endless. Some are designed to entertain, some to educate and some to persuade.
Ideas:
If you play poker or gamble at online casinos, you can add screenshots of your graphs, hands played, biggest pots and wins on slots. Create profiles on websites like Instagram or Pinterest and share your images.
Also on the theme of images, think about what goes along with your written content. You can find thousands of quality, stock-free photos that can fit the article you’ve written. Inside the article you can add memes for entertainment purposes or add graphs and pie charts to educate.
• Videos
Videos are very common nowadays. Websites like Youtube allow you to store and publicize your videos for free. However, creating a quality video takes time and practice. Just like with images, your videos can take dozens shapes and forms and be about anything you like.
You can make video content regularly or have an introductory video explaining the purpose of your website (like you can find on our home page). Being able to subscribe to channels also gives you an additional way to get traffic and increase the percentage of returning customers.
Videos also differ in length. It seems simple but different lengths can be adjusted to fit different purposes. For example, short videos can work great for making introductions, maybe even conclude and call to action while longer videos should be designed to educate, to show your authority on the subject, etc.
Ideas:
It really depends on what kind of website you have but videos can be made in a variety of ways. Programs like Camtasia (or its free alternatives) allow you to capture your screen (great if you want to make a training video, show how to register to a website, etc.), you might even want to make video reviews of poker rooms and casinos you promote. You can also take a camera and make a video about what surrounds you. You can make video interviews, video blog entries, etc.
Even if you don’t create videos, you can embed other people’s videos on your website. It works great.
• Podcasts
Podcasts are not new but they are not included in websites that often. Well, producing podcasts on regular basis is a lot of work. Can it pay off? It definitely can.
Podcasts are great for several reasons. For example, people can subscribe and follow all the new releases. Also, people can download them and listen on the go, share them with friends. But you will need a few things first – a microphone (preferably, with noise-canceling one), software to record your podcasts (for example, Audacity) and a place to store them online (like soundcloud.com)
Just like videos, you can make regular editions or make one-time podcasts to vary your website’s content. It really depends on your.
Ideas:
Podcasts can vary a lot. Usually, you can make a weekly edition. You can cover industry news, find people that would be interesting to talk to (and listen to). Keep in mind, Podcasts allow you and your guest be in completely different places. Just make a Skype conference call and press “record”.
There is a ton we haven’t yet mentioned. It all depends on what you want your website to be. Don’t be afraid to experiment. You don’t need any fancy equipment to add audio or video content to your site. See what works for your visitors (what you like is also very important).
