What’s your biggest affiliate problem?

Recently we talked about the lessons you could learn from the Oscars 2014 and how to identify the strong/weak sides of your affiliate business. How did that go? You didn’t do it, did you? If you did, congratulations. If you didn’t, at least take a moment now and think of what can be improved.

There’s always something!

OK, so you have an affiliate business. You have a logo, a website, maybe a few social networking accounts. There are visitors, some of them click on ads, and some register to the rooms you promote. It’s all moving forward. But is it really?

If you’re still reading, you probably feel something is wrong in your business. So, let’s fix it!

• Are you in the right place?

If you’ve picked the wrong niche, you have a very low chance of success. Even if you end up successful, you’ll rarely be happy.

So, is online gambling something you understand and want to promote? Do you know who your audience is, what they want and how they think?

The easiest thing you can do to understand what kind of people you are dealing with is to play yourself! So register to any site, try out free money they give you or make a deposit and experience what they experience on daily basis.

• What do you offer?

Depending on your audience there are different products to promote. If you post on forums filled with beginners but promote rooms with big bonuses and rakeback it becomes a lose-lose situation.

We will not elaborate on this more because the best deals for you really depend on what kind of audience you focus on. However, there’s one more thing.

“How many” is also important. Maybe you’re better off with promoting just one poker room? It may be easier to focus on your marketing and it’s also easier to rank higher in search engines just because there’s less competition.

• Not enough traffic?

There can be several reasons why you are not getting enough traffic. Though, can there ever be enough traffic?
We hope you don’t expect them to fall from the sky. So, where do you expect to come from? Search engines? Forums? Emails? Social Networks? Yes, you probably want traffic to come from everywhere but to really increase your traffic you need to focus on sources one by one, fix the specific problem and move to the next one.

If you want to rank higher in the search results, of course you need better SEO. It starts with better content (like headlines and keywords) but goes much deeper. If you’re planning on using any SEO tools but don’t know how, better ask for help.

If your email click-through rate (CTR) is not good enough, the solution may be different for some of you. Maybe you have the wrong audience? For example, you send emails to people that tried online poker but didn’t like it. Or you write about WSOP qualifiers to clients that signed up for your newsletter for “10 free lessons to build a bankroll”.
The answer may also be in the headlines, content or call to action messages. Or maybe you just need to increase the volume to see better results?

Whatever is the source of traffic you want to focus on, act today. NOW. Maybe simply by defining your daily/weekly/budget and look for a place to advertise. Maybe review your products and add more value like exclusive freerolls, extra cash, etc.

There is a long and bumpy road ahead. Don’t get discouraged! Don’t be afraid to make mistakes because it’s the only way to really become an expert. Almost every one of today’s hero’s in music, acting, inventing, sports, etc., has a story of failure before they became successful.

If you want to make a living from your own home, live for yourself and fulfill your dreams, don’t stop. Try, test, rinse and repeat. You’ll get there.
