Default Does vBSEO for vbulletin help for SEO?

Does using vBSEO or similar product for vbulletin really help your posts and threads from your forum get ranked better in the search engines?

Is it worth it?

Jermey maybe you could input since I see you have it here in the forum.

Theres a lot of discussion about this product over at a forum for forum admins if you get me....

Basically i think it works better for new forums but it can still help established ones.

The admin site im on about was given a license for free to try out which they've had on for two months, and theres been no increase in traffic from search engines theres actually been less but this could be down to it been summer, and theres less users in summer, i cant remember what their pages listed were like but it wasn't a good review basically but two months probably isn't long enough to make judgement so their going to leave it on for abit and see how it rides out

There are a lot of back end controls to mess around with and apparently if you don't set it up correct, it can hurt your site...

I am trying to decide. I have a pretty good forum that has been around for a couple years but I don't think I have every had any hits to any of the content in the forum.

I have found that this forum does drive traffic from Google directly because of VBSEO. Having the forum topic in the url versus something like php=postid-1284857 has been beneficial here.

For example this post is on the first page of google if someone was searching for:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&s...on&btnG=Search

Not that I care about a few random hits each month from "VBSEO searches". But take the thousands of other posts at PAW, which most are somehow relevant to poker affiliate marketing. When you add up all the random search terms PAW gets found for each month, VBSEO has been worth it for us.

I can see however with an existing forum how you want to be careful and make sure it is installed properly. If your existing pages don't get redirected properly or the rewrites are bad, you could get stuck with thousands of duplicate pages.

Also, it has a direct effect on ur entire website. Gives more credit to other pages within site that have to do with similar subjects. I huge factor in ranking is content on pages that link to other pages, and URLs. Especially if your site has tons of pages the more benefits will show.
