Does this mean that we are breaking the law by handing out flyers in the UK?

Pokermaster

The status of the Uk has changed, and, while advertising is still allowed, you cannot currently discuss real money in the advertising. So offering a bonus on your first deposit is no longer acceptable, but it is OK to show Players around a poker table...

The Uk is moving into a new era, and it woudl be probably worthwhile to clarify with a lawyer what you can and cannot do currently.

Apparently you are not allowed to encourage people to gamble by offering them any incentives. Also general terms like "Play Poker" and "bonus offer" are not allowed.

Although it is still scetchy the adveetising standards authority recommend for publishers to play it safe by avoiding anything that could encourage people to gamble.

I've had trouble getting magazines to include my inserts and distribution companies to post my leaflets because of this.

Luckly I've found a few good students to pass on my leaflets. Lets hope I don't get a £5k fine!

"In the absence of clear case law, CAP urges marketers and publishers not to accept ads for remote gaming sites that advertise on anything other than an availability-only platform (e.g. “visit us on genericgambling.com”). The stakes are too high to hedge your bets on getting it right. So, if you don’t want to gamble on accepting illegal ads, check with GBGB (David Dowsett on 020 7306 6228 or Tom Kavanagh on 020 7306 6253)."

Soon, we won't be able to breathe without a license or permit.

Sounds like we are in need of Robin Hood Part Deux!

Ok so I guess my leaflets are not alowed! When did this law come about? It seems that it has been law since 1969 but only highlighted recently, am I correct?
Also, does this affect my websites? or just offline? I noticed today that Pacific has a new section of banners for UK only to comply with this law, they are all pretty lame and say like "learn to play poker at Pacific" and stuff.

Always the same story, If people start making money from something they try to make it difficult for them, saying it is supporting crime..
