Obviously, I'd rather have a .com than a .net but I already have quite a few pages indexed with the SEs with Poker30.
Should I start with a different site? redirect what I already have? I've made mistakes with my first website that I wouldn't want to repeat with my second site.
My offline sitemap shows almost 150 pages of content. The SEs have listed:
116 pages in google
50 in yahoo
287 in msn (not all good content, just forum pages - etc.)
For backlinks, not a lot:
2 in G (not sure what that's about)
84 in Yahoo
344 in msn
The MSN bot loves me, the googlebot loves me sometimes, and Yahoo slurp only comes around about 4 times a day.
Do a 301 redirect and you won't lose your search engine rankings, backlinks and pagerank.
I would go for the .com
You may as well as long as you do a permanent redirect and you won't lose your stats.
