I am headed out tonight.
I created 3x5 NEON GREEN index cards with my catch phrase and website printed in large black lettering. These can literally be read from about 30 + feet. The contrast is perfect.
A Bottle of wall paper paste and a foam brush( sticks and stays to concrete)...hitting all the authorized posting areas on a major campus nearby.
Also taking the monster chalk sticks : )

Ya, it makes me wonder why on earth the credit card companies are always in the halls at our college giving away free gifts with the credit card applications? Do they think that these kids have a lot of money or something?

i disagree...first because I am a college student
but mostly because the craze is catching them more than anyone. I go to University of Alabama at Birmingham and we just started so I am getting ready to blitz. Making flyers and putting an add in our newspaper... now back to the topic...Anyone have some tips?

I certainly agree with Adio and Larry - go where the money is.
On the other hand, as you said, college campuses are poker hotbeds (hotbeds of poker?), and many small fish can be quite as nice as one whale (and god nose if you're lucky you may catch a rich frat boy, a trust fund baby, or two).
Seems like a good idea to go after all potential areas. Including the campuses as just one part of your marketing.

So its 2 am the other night and i am riding around campus pasting up flyers when the campus cop stops me for "looking suspicious"
" You a student", NO, "have id ?" ,NO(didnt really think id need it !), left it in my truck..anyway, he was just doing his job. After he did a cursory want/warrants check he asked to see a flyer...Poker? COOL ! have a nice night, i will check out the site.
We shall see what happens.
BTW wall paper paste( in a squeeze bottle) and a 3" foam brush work wonders in adhering flyers to the appropriate areas.( they are not coming down any time soon.)

While I agree that College students may not be the biggest Players at the moment, remember several things:
1. A Player is yours for life - they will end College one day and (hopefully) still be playing under you.
2. College students do have the time to play for long hours - they may not have large money, but if you get a winner, the rake can be excellent
You have to be creative to get these guys to convert. Hanging up posters probably wouldn't work - why not partner with one of the sororities? or maybe create a Poker Club and run some tourneys for them specifically?
Just my two cents...
Stephen
