I just took over running a local poker organization. I want to encourage interest in the organization and also get signups from people that may not yet be online poker players. So I want to run some online tournaments, perhaps have private tables too. What's a good place to do this?

Absolute runs some tournaments for a forum I'm a member of, and they seem to provide prize money for free rolls.
I'm not a member of Party's affiliate program yet, so I know nothing about what they do.
Freerolls or money-added tournaments sound ideal.

UB, Paradise, or Full-Tilt are all decent. Lately at FullTilt however private tournaments have been neing infiltrated by people who I have no idea how they are getting passwords. They all talk spanish and collude openly at the tables. Then you'll see a few players with 4 accounts all playing in the same tourney. For example speakerwire01, speakerwire02, speakerwire03, ect.

This sincerely annoys the shit out of me when I set up a private tourney for a small group and 80% of the players are not in that group.

Just a suggesstion, if you do set one up do not name it anything where people could find and get the information, for example "Party Riches Tournament" Also do not post the password anywhere public on the internet.

I swear there are a few guys that are in every single private tourney on FullTilt. Anyone else have this problem?

we had our 1st private tourney on fulltilt and it went off successfully. We did have an assload of people bombard our forum looking for the password, but we keep it very private. *don't name your tourney something that can be tracked back to your website if you don't want a ton of outsiders hitting your site only for the pword... no more

also had people badgering me while i was playing at fulltilt at a ring game a few days before the tourney asking for the password, and then when we also had some players berating some of our players via chat during the tourney (until i told them how to turn off spectator chat).

As far as private tourneys go, those mentioned above are good. I've done them at Gaming Club and Noble as well - if you're interested in those shoot me a PM.

Also, SelfMade - we have been doing what you're just now taking over for over a year (we run the Atlanta Poker Club)... PM me if you want to bounce any questions off of it, I'll gladly share info... especially if you sign up as a sub for me (we can also help w/ league services)

good luck!

Paradise also offers Tournaments which you can set-up online. If you are looking for a freeroll, I set these up for our Affiliates.

More than welcome Jeremy - if we do it at a good time for me (Australia) probably the only chance I have of getting somewhere.....

Paradise would be honoured....
