There is a huge difference between being self employed and being a business owner. People want to be self employed because they want to their own boss doing everything their own way. For some people this is an enjoyable life even though they probably end up doing more work than they would working a 9-5.

The problems stated in that article come from people wanting to do everything themselves instead of actually running a business. They make the mistake of thinking they are creating a business when they are really creating a job completely dependent on themselves. The goal of any business is for you to work less as it grows, not more.

The article made a lot of good points, but I think it's a little biased and short sighted.

Entrepreneurs sell their brainchildren to Business Owners.

It is the difference between being a Leader and being a Manager.
Each has skills and traits that have utility in the right context.

Business owners dot all the eyes and cross all the teas. It is what they do.
They listen to risk management experts about why something can't be done.

Entrepreneurs do not want to hear why something cannot be done.
They want to talk about, instead, how something could be done.
