Default Can Bots be stopped??

Hello:

Is there a way to code the page that contains my contact emails so that bots can't scrape the email address and spam me to death? I stil want the user to click on them and open their default email program.

thanks

Open Notepad, copy/paste the first block of code below & save it as spamthis.js
Edit the var's to your info...

ie. yourname @ yoursite.com
yourlinktext & the subject, which is the subject line you want in the email.
(always use the percentsign20 for any spaces.)

Code:
var name = "yourname";
var address = "yoursite.com";
var link = "yourlinktext";
var subject = "your%20subject";
function spamthis() {
document.write('<*a href=mailto:' + name + '@' + address + '?subject=' + subject + '>' + link + '');
}
Add this code where you want your email link to be...
Code:

Code:
<*script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.yoursite.com/spamthis.js">
[remove the <*'s]

Upload spamthis.js to your websites root folder.

That should do it!

I came up with this years ago & it has worked great, almost 3 years & less than a dz spam emails a day, another has been up a couple of months & not one so far.
Really simple actually, most know that SE bots can't read .js links?
Well, scraper bots can't read .js email links either

cheers

I prefer using a javascript form for people to contact me. Bots can't get the email addy that the info comes to and it's easier for people to use a form anyway. You have to keep in mind that many people don't have their email program set up to open when they click an email link (especially if they use Gmail, Hotmail, etc.)

If you're not using a service to keep track of your visitors via a newsletter, etc. I'd suggest taking at a look at Aweber via the link on my sig I've used it for some time now and it's worth it's weight in gold.
