Default neteller hacked

So I just went to log into neteller to transfer funds and it said my account was closed.

I called up neteller and it seems someone has somehow logged into my account and changed my email address - triggering the account to close automatically. The email address that it got changed to was . Unreal.

The question is how the hell people get your account password? The good thing is there was only a little bit of money in there because most funds don't get transferred until later in the month.

I also tried to log into my godaddy account where I have all my domains. Again, my password would not work and I had to change it. It was not the same password as my neteller account.

Good reason to change your passwords often and not to have the same passwords.

Yeah, luckily since I changed the email twice before, this made the third time. From what they were telling me since my email had been changed so many times they automatically closed down the account once the attempt was made by the hacker. He didnt even have a chance to take any money account.

There is a great program called RoboForm . It is a password manager, you can set/adjust the password encryption, length of password, create random passwords with one click, etc. This program is really slick, you can even install the password manager on to a thumb drive so if you are traveling without a laptop you can just insert the thumb drive at Internet café, friends house, etc

You should use a different password for every website you have an account on, that way if someone discovers your password, only one site is compromised.

Never use plain words that can easily be easily cracked with a dictionary attack.

A solid password would be something like: &T8vgSa8v^!M

It may me a bit of pain to get used to, but when you are dealing with banking and financial transactions it is a must in todays computer environment.

Wow that software is awesome. You can even have it prefill in long forms. Thank GK.

My best guess is...Someone got past your firewall & pilfered your files or you picked up a keylogger virus/trojan?
Somebody got your logins somehow & those are the most likely suspects.

Glad you got lucky

P.S. Opened any fake IRS emails lately?

What's the best way to get rid of one of those trojans or find out you have one? Just run a spyware removal program?

If it is indeed a keylogger I would not login to any accounts from the computer you are on right now. I would suggest having it looked at because you can never be too carefull when it comes to passwords.

In the meantime change the passwords on all of the sites that you may have visited anytime recently (you never know how long it could have been on your computer). Change the passwords from a different computer.

Yea I wish you the best with this whole Neteller situation. My Neteller account was hacked late last year and had over $700 stolen from me -- then to take things further they tried duplicating multiple Neteller accounts from emails they had retrieved from a keylogger that was on my pc as well. To this day, I still havent gotten my shit square with neteller, as they are now requesting I give them a Social Security Verification form in order to even remotely consider getting my account back. Ive been very busy this past year, and I dont have time to wait in line at my local social security office just to get a piece of paper proving its me. My bank account statement, driver's license, and birth certificate wasn't enough to get my account squared away with them...
