If you are looking to get a head start on getting indexed get on ebay and buy any one of those PR auctions to get your site linked to them - whenever Google next looks at your site (daily for PR5 and above I THINK) you will be indexed.

Also, this may seem like a dumb question...
how do i know when i get index by google. Is it simply being listed in a search for your keyword(s).

search for your domain name in quotes. For example, "pokerbankrolls.com" when your site comes up it means you have been indexed. Or you can check your stats to see if google has spidered your site yet.

I was gona ask you guys this also. I used an seo program 2 weeks ago and mine still hasn't came up. It was free trial through yahoo called submitnet.

Get more people to link to your site. The more links you have, the sooner you'll get spidered.

Getting indexed is just the beginning.

Add a tracking script to your site like

http://www.statcounter.com/

You need to know where your visitors are coming from and what keywords they are using to find you.

http://www.statcounter.com/ is free and gives you lots of useful and interesting statistic.

Notice how my website is being found for some pretty obscure keyword phrases?

The only reason my site was found for "wsop satellites minnesota" is because I just happen to mention on one of my pages that last years WSOP champ Greg Raymer went to the University of Minnesota!!!

The more original content you have on your site, the more keyword phrases you will have to snag visitors. Think of your content like a fishing net, the bigger the net, the more fish you'll catch.

Getting back on topic, I've had new sites that got picked up by Google in less than 24 hours and I've had sites that took a month. You just need to be patient.

While your waiting add content to your site, as much as you can, it'll pay off.

It doesn't have to be fancy, just original. Write about what you know. If you don't know much about poker..... read some poker books.

A good chunk of my sites content came about from ideas I got from Lou Kriegers "Poker for Dummies". Solid poker advice in an easy to read style.
