Despite it being by far the most likely scenario from the beginning. AP/UB makes hundreds of thousands a day. The idea the owner would call with ten high (revealing his cheating) to make 30k and put his $200m+ business at risk is staggeringly improbable. It might be true though. Far more likely is that some employee making $80k a YEAR in a key position at a $500k a DAY business would want to get a bigger piece of the pie.
It could be either of these or another scenario, but objectively disgruntled employee would be 100 times more likely to do something like this in the rest of the world. Bill Gates doesn't slip into the shipping room to substitute duplicate software to save $30, normally.
