I tried to do some advertising in a college paper and we were three days away from the presses running when they put a kabosh on the ad because it was gambling related. I suppose it depends on the university.
I think one of the most powerful things you can do on a college campus is too develop a message board where people can discuss home games and you can begin to develop a list of poker players. Once you get enough members you can then host an online tourney "just for these players" at a site that allows this. UB is good for doing this.
Party Poker will allow you to set up private cash games which is also a great idea as well. I have gained many loyal RMP's by hosting private 2-4 games.
I wish I could go back to college start doing this stuff as a freshman. Man the possibilities are endless in college towns. Instead I was busy chasing tail and trying to be an Ebay guru. (One of the two didn't work out)
