Sorry for your unfortunate situation. Hopefully it gets resolved, but chances are there is not much that can be done.
I don't mean to preach to you in any way, but this is a good example of why its better to only carry the cash that you need at the time. There are Bank machines all over the world, and everywhere takes credit/debit.
Hope it gets sorted out and the insurance company covers u though!
