Re-reading this excellent post the other day... got me thinking about how some things have changed since 2005 - while the core principals have remained the same...

Figured I'd throw a couple of '2007' ideas out there - some of which I have started experimenting with and ask the question of others... what is new with you in the publicity / traffic / sign-ups sphere??

1) Linkbait... Of course quality writing or useful resources are key here. Also did a blog experiment back in May where I posted insulting the hell out of one of the moderators at 2+2 (its a mainly SNG blog so the mod for this sub-forum). Bingo - someone posted my link and it turned into a 10 page debate with 100's of visitors within days... (did admit a month later that I had no personal issues with the guy and it was an experiment - he seemed upset!) ...any ideas here?

2) Video... Utube etc, have also experimented here with a short SNG vid... even 5 months later it brings me a few visitors each day.

3) Article Marketing, for both links and traffic - ezine articles brings me a steady stream of visitors at least 100 backlinks from 20 articles at 3 different sites (links are split between blog, current site and an old (now dead site))

4) Social Bookmarking... paid for Imteaz' excellent service but notice many people are also bookmarking me voluntarily... want to look into this a little further when time permits - any experiences out there??

5) Social Networking... not covered this, have a Facebook profile and get some hits from MySpace (not looked into who linked to me yet). Understand that spamming these sites is an issue and is more regulated these days...

6) Mutual Blog reviews... Reading both here at PAW and in other areas this is getting bigger - anyone tried PPP or other similar services?

I'm sure there are others too and of course these are not all 'new' ideas... anyone want to add to the list??

Cheers, Mark
