It sounds like neither of you know how to transfer a domain which seems to be the biggest problem. You may both want to contact your hosting providers and ask them what is needed to perform the transfer.
Have you initiated the transfer? Has he unlocked the domains and given you the AUTH Code? What exactly is the hold up?
