Buying traffic used to be popular back in the late 90's and 2000. It probably still is, but the majority, probably like 95% of it is a scam.

Basically all these companies will promise you 100,000+ unique hits or whatever. Then they set up their automated bot to hit your site from various proxies. So in your stats it will look like traffic, but they are not even real eyeballs.

The only way to buy traffic is through legitimate media buy. For example you pay me for banner space on a poker site or have me include your link in an email to my lists. Buying raw traffic is more than likely complete waste of money.
