You’ve got your website. What’s next?

May 09 2014

The very first step in your affiliate marketing we always emphasize is creating a website. If you don’t have one yet, follow our Extensive guide to starting out and create your website. But like we said recently, this is the point a lot of affiliates fail. The problem is they don’t really know where to move from that point onwards.

What’s next?

Creating your own website is an amazing feeling. Whether you did it yourself or had a team of developers, it’s yours. But that’s the point that a lot of affiliates get discouraged. The fact is, there is still a lot of dirty work remaining. Often it really becomes overwhelming.
The key thing here is to stay focused and plan ahead. Let’s look at the things that still need to be done.

• Content

Content in general is now your most important asset. Schedule content daily and try to keep up with the pace. You will be able to slow down later on but for now your most important task is to fill up your new website with content.

Just a sec.

Even though you need a lot of content, don’t sacrifice quality over quantity. If your schedule gets really overwhelmed, you have two options. Either slow down or ask for help. In any case, the most important thing is quality – attention-grabbing headlines, useful and problem-solving content.

• Mistakes

No one likes mistakes, but we all make them. Now as you have your fresh website and are working on content, look at your website once again. Is everything shaping up nicely? Maybe you forgot about something?

Don’t worry. This is still a good time to fix the mistakes.

Out of the most common mistakes the one most worth noting is focusing too much on your product rather than helping and building relationships. Look at your website from the visitor’s perspective and think what problems they could be having and where on your website they can find help.

• Social Marketing

We will be talking more about social marketing in the upcoming weeks, but at least for now just register accounts on Twitter, Facebook and Google+ (any other you find useful as well). You can use browser plugins like QuickTweet or fbQuickLogin to manage multiple social media accounts without a hustle.

Once you do have accounts, you can easily automate that all of your posts would be published so you don’t have to spend valuable time doing that manually.

• Optimizing your website

There are many ways you can optimize your website. Even if you are new to things, you can start out by looking at your competitors and analyzing keywords that could help you rank higher.

Start with free Google Adwords Keyword Planner as you only need a Gmail account. But be prepared to spend some time on keyword research. This is one of the crucial elements of your website SEO.

If you don’t know how, check out their guides or contact us for help. You can use PAW online form or leave a message on social networks.
