Senate Bill 6613 has passed and officially passed through the house with a 93-5 win.  As of June 7th, 2006 it will officially be a crime to play online poker in the privacy of your own home in the state of Washington.

The bill was put together by Senator Margarita Prentice and puts online poker players on the same level as sexual predators.  If your found guilty of placing an online wager in the state of Washington you can be charged with a Class C Felony and receive up to 10 years prison time.

Are you kidding me? Please don't let me get off on another tangent about what a mess our goverement is.

The real question becomes, how will the state of Washington regulate and enforce this new law.  Essentially law enforcement cannot enter your home because they see a poker game up on your monitor.  Likewise I think there would be some serious issues if they asked ISP's to provide info on what websites users ar visting.

With all that said the bill is on the books, BUT mind you there are tons of crazy laws on the books.  Did you know sodomy is illegal in many states?  ever see that one enforced?  This new online poker law is about just as stupid.
