How to launch, run and profit from a niche website
July 03 2014
All-in one or one-in-one?
Trying to manage a one-fits-all business can be very stressful to say the least. It may not be a newsflash, but is your website different? If it’s not, we suggest looking at things differently. Be more specific. Study your competitors. Target audience better.
Profit from a niche websites
To begin, we want to note that by a niche website we don’t mean the trend that was buzzing a year ago. You know, when all you would needed was 20 minutes to create 3 or 4 page website with a few mediocre articles focusing on a specific keyword.
When affiliates contact us with problems, we ask them to explain the vision they have, show us their website. Far too often we see the same, dull model being applied. A few poker rooms, a couple of casino rooms, reviews, a few articles, maybe a few tips. And that’s it.
We are not saying it never works. It does for some.
But why not focus on a small part of your audience and go from there? You can easily expand your focus later on but starting narrower does a few great things for your affiliate business:
► Depending on your niche, you now compete with thousands instead of millions of competitors on search engines.
► You can define your audience in detail. Instead of targeting beginner poker players now you target beginner PLO players from UK.
This is only a tip of the iceberg.
What do you need to create a niche affiliate website?
First of all, a topic. Think about what you’re interested yourself and could talk for hours about. Next, go to Google Adwords and type the name of your topic. If you can, try to narrow it down even more.
For example, if you take general poker topics like poker deposit bonuses, best poker rooms, you’ll get millions of results with all the big names taking the top (poker room poker sites, world famous poker affiliates like Pokernews.com.
This is bad…
Start narrowing it down. Adding a specific region or country will probably give you three or four times less results.
Now we’re getting somewhere…
Experiment some more by adding and removing different types of card games, different games like cash, Sit and Go’s or MTT’s. Take a few minutes and look for low competition keywords with a reasonable amount of searches per month. You never know what you might find.
Hey, it’s OK if you find a good niche but have no knowledge about it. There are many ways to get a website full of content. Even if you have to invest a bit it’s worth doing as you already know that the niche you are about target is far from filled.
Next, you need a concept for the website.
And again, try to get out of your comfort zone. Maybe you can take someone else’s idea and tweak it a bit? Maybe you can come up with something original that has potential to go viral in the gambling world?
Let persuading and selling be secondary. Focus on offering something fresh, entertaining and satisfying and you will create a buzz people all over the world will talk about.
