Shooting in Bodog's tropical vacation compound in Costa Rica in March, the two-hour episodes will air weekly on Saturday nights, beginning on April 15. However, the company declined to name the network.

"We are on a mission to find the next poker star and eager to showcase the Bodog lifestyle," said Ayre, the gaming tycoon who set up the North American-facing digital entertainment and gaming brand. "Poker and television will make for one heck of a show, and our next step into the world of reality TV."

The series will follow 40 individuals – 10 celebrities, 10 poker pros and 20 members of the public – who play for a $500,000 prize. Each episode will feature a poker game, with each winner taking $50,000 and securing a spot at the final table for a chance to win the grand prize. Ayre will host.

The show follows Bodog's first foray into reality TV: Bodog Salutes the Troops, a charity variety event that aired on Spike TV. Last month Bodog Music announced its' expansion into Europe, while the Bodog Lingerie Bowl III will air on non-US pay-per-view platforms throughout 2006.

Ayre added that the as-yet unnamed new poker series "marks yet another progressive step in our journey toward becoming North America's premier digital entertainment company."
