Hey,
I don't think I could find a better place to ask this question ;)

I am looking to target AFFILATES to sponsor one of my sites.

I want to get long term sponsors for DeuceAce and I think affiliates would be interested.
There's a lot I want to do with DeuceAce and having sponsors to cover some of the costs would be great, unlike most people here, I am making money from affiliate's ads and not affiliate programmes.

How should I go about acquiring affiliates on a long term deal?

I want to get 4 sponsors/advertisers paying for 3/6/12 month deals on my site.

Most affiliates try get deals from the rooms, I think I can do it direct from affiliates.

So....what information would you as an affiliate want to know about a site you would be advertising on?
How should I contact affiliates? I already have an email drawn up to contact a few and I am giving a short description of the site, the visitors and outlining how they will benefit from sponsoring the site.

Anything else you would like to know?

I'm sure most affiliates would like to know why you are not just an affiliate yourself. If you have a high amount of traffic and want people to buy ad space, you would be crazy to sell that to other affiliates.

It just sounds like you dont have a large amount of traffic, otherwise you wouldnt be selling it.

I have been developing sites for years and never been interested in affiliating for any industry, I did a lot of hosting sites and that was also great for affiliating, but I never wanted to do it.

Selling ad space is a lot easier to manage, I think a lot of webmasters would rather do it.

Anyone else?

I think its a good way to diversify yourself & for a "steady" monthly income.

It'd be nice to have a ad based revenue site that would cover the bills every month IMO.

Seen a few that sound as if they are in dire straights lately from simply a BigG update.

The PR update is still going on but to be honest, I really don't see any need for PR in the poker industry.

PR is one of the most important things to me though for my directory, I have over 12k sites listed there and its $4.95 for new listings, if I drop PR I lose a lot.
I don't worry about PR for my poker site at all though.

Still looking to see how my sites do once the PR update is complete, probably still at least a week to go for that though.

Well if you want to sell ad space you should do what i do. Get adsense or Adbrite actually has worked great for me. I have my affiliate links up so i make money from people who join. but recently. The owner of celebrity poker. Has purchased a monthly reccuring 30 word text link on my site for 122$ a monty wich is great. since i still have my affiliate links up. I am also making money from ad space. YOu can do both its real easy. WHen you put adbrite on ur site you will end up making more ad space sell. From many differnt companys give it a try its easy. Also if you dont know what it is check out my site. Www.allinmafia.com see how i have it set up. I have a FORUM AND A WEBSITE that has text link ads wich help monitize my site

I think adsense is a really bad idea, plus you can't run adsense on gambling sites unless you contact them and they make a special exception.

I contacted them and they said no but I'm glad now that they did.

How many members/posts are on your forum?

I have been doing amazingly well lately from selling ad space, everything I have apart from one banner space (Hasn't run out yet, advertiser might renew) has been sold out for a few months now.
