In early April, 2010 French Parliament passed a vote to legalize and
regulate the online poker industry in France. This new legislation means
that on the 1st of June, 2010 the Poker/Online Gaming industry will
experience a significant shake up.
The bill means that the French Government will place a 2% tax on online
poker and 7.5% on Sports Betting in an effort to ensure players are
treated fairly as only licensed operators will be allowed to offer their
products in France. As a result of this new legislation, a number of online Poker rooms have decided that they will no longer be accepting French players.
