How many sponsors does the Frank bill need in order to pass? Even if it were too pass, doesn't idiot Bush have the ability to veto?

Damn, I'm so sick of this government. Can we just start voting for the next President now and get out of the muck?

For those of you not in the U.S...not all Americans are illiterate cowboys, that's just our President. Sorry for the hijack.

I really would like to hear more reasoning as to why these congressmen are so against online gambling. And I would also like them to argue their point without using any religous beliefs or their own "family values".

This just seems to be an other form of prohibition to me. It would be interesting to see the government documents regarding alcohol prohibition compared to the ones floating around online gambling prohibition.

Maybe Jeremy can find I Nelson Rose to talk about where we are at now with the current state of online gambling after the WTO makes its ruling.

I agree. I am sick of other people's morals becoming my laws.

I'm amazed that not everyone sees it for the totally hollow argument it actually is. You can't argue morals then allow gambling on lotteries, horse racing and in land-based casinos. You either allow gambling or you don't, and anyone with the slightest modicum of common sense knows that you don't stop something by banning it, you simply drive it underground and put your constituents at more risk from dodgy operators.

By the way, theres now 21 co-sponsors on HR2610 (the poker exemption bill): http://www.casinomeister.com/forums/206870-post62.html

well said Simmo,
The following is a tangent:

What is the difference between gambling at a casino or gambling online? It's gambling either way! At least when your gambling online you can see what time it is, look outside, talk on your phone, or any thing else you see fit, it's not like a casino where they shove free drinks down your throat in order to get you drunk so you lose all of your money. Land based casinos even offer credit lines and such. Also... there are no hookers hanging around the slot machines when you gamble from the privacy of your own home.

Don't get me wrong, I love casinos, and I'll gamble with the best of em... but you can't say most (not all) casinos aren't trashy to say the least. What makes online gambling so bad and live gambling ok? I guess b/c one is regulated and the other is not? It is total bullshit.

They are just gonna spend more money trying to keep people from gambling online. It will probably turn out just as successful as the war on drugs...lol I can see it now, the war on gambling...but just the internet kind.

I may just stay in London after CAP... anyone need a roomate?

Sigh... i feel better now

In addition to what you're saying John, where do you see most online players playing? Probably 70% of them are playing limits smaller than can be found at any casino. I don't remember finding any $.01/.02 FL Hold'em games the last time I was in Vegas. I also don't recall seeing any $1 tournaments. It's okay to spend $9 on a violent movie, then another $20 on Goobers and a kegger of Mountain Dew, but don't you phucking dare put another dollar into that rebuy.

My bad you are correct, Franks statements about online gambling being immoral tend to stick in my brain..

But then.. I imagine he was equally morally bound to accept the land based casino kickbacks in effort to put a stop to the immoral online gambling..

Off topic yet amusing - When I used to smoke (4 months or so clean! YAY!) I used to comment often that my honor roll kids must be dumber than the average American, that's why we pay the extra tax on cigarettes for education.

After reading through all the Google/Msn/Yahoo stuff, and reading about the Microsoft fine, It seems not only are smokers raising dumber children... Online gambling promoters seem to be misplacing theirs.

Very good point, we can play only $1-$2 NL in Oregon.. what happens there is that every bankroll sits at the same table. There are a few more options in limit, but i bet ya not as many people would get eaten alive at the NL table if they had a choice of stakes. Opening bet at the $1-$2 NL table was right around $25.00 the last time i sat.
