The main reason most people don't translate using the free services and have it done by a human translator is because of the phrasing.

Some words just don't translate right. When you use the free services of say Google or Bablefish you run the risk of not looking professional, if your English speaking line was " Use our special bonus code when signing up at ".... then if the translations ended up being dont sign in our using special code . I am being extreme just to make a point.

I had a site translated in 8 languages using this free method a year ago and I hade many people emailing me that spoke the native language saying it was all messed up. So just be careful and confirm it really says what you want it too.

i will suggest use Google translation service or use yahoo, i prefer yahoo though, its more reliable. and your thousand of pages will be index by google in different language.

Well for example:
http://www.pokerdeal.ca/ < english
http://www.pokerdeal.ca/lang/ru/ < Russian
http://www.pokerdeal.ca/lang/it/ < Italian
http://www.pokerdeal.ca/lang/es/ < Spanish
http://www.pokerdeal.ca/lang/de/ < German
http://www.pokerdeal.ca/lang/fr/ < French
http://www.pokerdeal.ca/lang/pt/ < Portuguese
http://www.pokerdeal.ca/lang/ja/ < Japanese
http://www.pokerdeal.ca/lang/ko/ < Korean
http://www.pokerdeal.ca/lang/ar/ < Arabic
http://www.pokerdeal.ca/lang/nl/ < Dutch
http://www.pokerdeal.ca/lang/el/ < Greek

and more.....

thats how it looks. i didn't finish it yet but will soon. just working on it.
I just take a look at your german site-and i think there are the same problems with all your sites. You have only translate words so noone in german could understand what this means. Not one sentence is correct and
it looks very unprofessional

sorry for the hard words

Just my opinion, but having bad translation can maybe drive additional traffic, however it can also probably do more bad for your overall brand.

I know if I showed up at a poker site written in broken English, my first impression would be very bad.

I wrote this for article GPWA magazine earlier in the year, explaining my thoughts further.

My first language is french and this translation is crap. Lots of words are translated litterally and don't have the same meaning in french. Poker is poker in french, not "tisonnier" for exemple. Lots of sentences don't make sence at at all.

To me it looks like an automated translation.

If you have a page in Swedish, I will be glad to check the content for you so that everything looks okay. Swedish is my mother tongue and I work as a freelance translator and writer for various gambling sites.
