When it comes to promoting a college poker website our member BuckeyeReport knows what he is doing. Needless to say I am extremely impressed with his site as well as his marketing efforts.

After seeing our member BuckeyeReport (Justin's) website I had to say that I was impressed to say the least.  Not because it was a pretty or well laid out site, which it is.  But more so from speaking with Justin about his marketing plans and drive to make the site a success.

Many people launch poker websites at their campus but very few do what it takes to make the site a huge success.  After seeing what our member Buckeye report is doing to promote his site OhioStatePoker.com I felt it was only right to make it a Party Riches featured site.  Many lessons can be learned off of what Justin is doing to make his site a success.

One of the most important aspects of his site is that he has been able to get his forums active.  This can be one of the hardest tasks for any webmaster, but once accomplished you have a virtual machine.  Not only are you creating new content every day, you are also building a community of poker players from the same area.  This is a tremendous benefit when it comes to promoting private tournaments on individual sites or even just promoting one poker room as the xxxxxx Universities preffered poker site.

Equally important is that OhioStatePoker.com simply looks proffesional and is easy to navigate.  It doesn't come off like a banner farm and on your first visit it is very clean and inviting.  Notice it gets the point across without flashing multiple banners at you.  If I were an OSU student and came upon the site, I would feel that it is a community for OSU poker players and not a sense of some guy trying to advertise affiliate links.

Now let's look at what our friend Justin A.K.A. Leisure Suit Larry, also known as BuckeyeReport is doing to drive traffic and grow his website.  There are also some "classified" promotions Justin is doing that I will not share here.

Reaching Students at OSU
- Flyers in buildings/halls at school, campus posts
- face book, myspace
- homepokergames.com
- ohiostatepoker.com
- Work out a deal with BuckeyePlanet.com
- Hand out flyers in oval
- Lantern Ad
- Flyers in pizza shops, restaurants, music stores, osu book stores
- Talk to all the fraternities personally and give them sign up info.
- Work with the guys at the charity tournament
- AIM Profile
- Hand out stuff in the dorms
- Big posters, bar ads at OSU campus
- Lantern Press Release
- Chalk Sidewalks
- Partner with Block O

Does this sound impressive?  I think so.  Even better, Justin has set goals and written them down as to how many new players he wants to bring on this year.  If you have been to any sales seminars, you know how important writing your goals down is. If you haven't written your goals down, you need to.  This has been critical in my success.  Every day you sit down at your computer and read your goals it motivates you to work hard and make it happen.

Not only is this impressive, if you read the forums, then you know Justin is looking to intern with a poker site this year.  I think it goes without saying that this is an affiliate who is doing all the right things and has the potential to be a big player in this industry in the years to come.  Kudos to you BuckeyeReport and you fantastic site.  Congratulations on Ohio State Poker being a Poker Affiliate World featured site.
