When it comes to developing an online poker community our member Nick0r hit the nail on the head. He has aquired over 7800 members in his forum in just over a year!

What can we say about Cards Chat Poker Forum, Nicks community has a Google PageRank of 5, An Alexa ranking of 88,000 and even more impressive a member base in his forums of over 7800 poker players.  Established in September of 2004 Nick has been able to drive traffic through extensive work in search engine optimization.

Without phenomenal SEO, getting 7800 members within 12 months would be all but impossible.  In fact Nick ranks in the top of the search engines for some very sought after poker keywords.

Even with all the SEO, it still takes more to make a successful site such as CardsChat.  Lets take a look at some of the things that Nick has done to create and maintain his community.  For starters he used VBulletin which is a great message board and has some pretty phenominal functionality.  Believe me him and I have chatted about VBulletin on a few occassions.

When you first arrive at his site, it is not overwhelming with a bunch of garbled jibberish.  He puts his banners up there, you scroll down, and it is right to the point.  It's a poker forum plain and simple.  There is no confusion about what type of poker site you are showing up at.

If you look on the top he also has tabs where you can read articles and reviews..  Of course all these reviews are part of his promotional plan, but being a smart webmaster he does not try to shove affiliate links at you and overwhelm you from the beginning.

Another thing I like that he has recently incorporated is his gallery.  This gives members an opportunity to get to know eachother a little better and have a little fun.  Looking at his affiliate marketing plan to make money he does all the right things by having reviews and featured sites, ect.  But the one thing he also does is he capitalizes on his sense of community and the shear mass of player he has by doing tournaments with an actual buy-in!  Yes we all love to do freerolls as it draws more players, but this doesn't make anyone money.

Overall http://www.cardschat.com/ is a model site and a great example of how someone started from scratch a  little over a year ago and already has over 7800 members in his forum.  Yes, it can be done folks.  Congratulations to Nick0r on being a PokerAffiliateWorld.com Featured Site........You earned it buddy!
